In the last three years, over 2,000 people have been released to the Boston area from the Department of Corrections and the Sheriff’s Department. It is possible that potential perpetrators and victims may currently be incarcerated in our correctional facilities. MCOI seeks to change the hearts and minds of the incarcerated by providing a safe haven and a spiritual foundation. Here’s how you can help:
Employers
Be part of the solution. Employers can immediately impact the lives of our clients as 90% of those who return to prison are unemployed at the time of their re-arrest. Many ex-offenders have excellent business ideas. They posses the intellectual capacity to be successful. Often times they lack opportunity coupled with the support and caring necessary to excel. Help us by providing at least one of the three, the opportunity with employment, the support with training, or the caring with mentoring.
The following excerpt was taken from a recent report on Employment of Ex-offenders; Employers that hired ex-offenders reported that they were some of his best workers, in part because they’re eager for the chance to work and motivated to succeed.
Fidelity Bonding – It’s always a safe bet to protect your company from employee theft or dishonesty. If you hire a former felon you can qualify for free federal bonding insurance for six months. How does fidelity bonding work? Good question. Click here for a more in-depth explanation.
Work Opportunity Tax Credit – Your company can receive a tax credit if you hire one of our graduates. Click here to read the specifics.
Churches
The Lord loves ex-offenders. God redeemed Moses who took the life of an Egyptian, Joseph who was an ex-offender, and David who caused a man to be killed, to have his wife. Be part of the redemptive process of helping our clients.
Your church as a group or you as an individual can exemplify the sentiment behind Matthew 25:35-40 about feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and visiting those in prison. Contact us to provide mentoring, community support, and mostly love to those that need it.
